Assignment 3 Documentation
Step 1: Data Collection

1. Locate the building on google map, search image for a general impression
2. Accurate construction information, including length, material, and construction details from this book. (blueprint of plan, section, elevation and detail inside, hand drawn by Louis Kahn, record in inch, but I translate it into meters)
Step 2: Digital Model

1. The unique cycloid roof. To build accurate cycloids, but not semicircle or arc, I used grasshopper.

2. Analysis of each component of the building. Columns, walls, roof, beam, window, skylight ...

3. Building the landscape model. Must consider what type of material I'm gonna use for laser cut, so the height has been assign to all the pieces. From 6mm, 3mm, 1.5mm, to 0.5mm.

Step 3: Building

1. Set up the laser cut file for the first two models.

2. Cut it and assembling it

3. Make a Frame! Cut in the timber workshop.


4. Put it together

Step 4: Gypsum Model

1. Laser-cut the mode for gypsum casting



2. Assemble it and Sand it

3. Put 0.5mm pattern inside

4. Measure and mix gypsum

5. Pour it into the modes

6. Flatten the top
7. Cover it

8. Finally, take it out
